Same Page

So five years after our first difficulties began in school and I started saying there is something not quite right here the school agrees.  Yay!! Now maybe we can get somewhere.  At least now we are all on "the same page" and can agree that Harrison should be tested further to see what else can be done to help make him succesful. 

Insert tons of sarcasm in here.  It is a little difficult to be excited that after all the phone calls, e-mails, conferences, meetings, etc that it took having a child fail an entire year and begin to doubt themselves and their ability to do anything to decide that something might be wrong and, may need to be investigated further.

However, I do have hope that at least we are headed in the correct direction.

Week 1 Done

We made it through the first week of school with no major incidents!  Yay! Now on to the rest of the school year.  So far everyone is still enjoying the school year, teachers, friends and the general atmosphere of being back in school.  Everyone is excited to begin their after school activities as well, at least the children are.

Abigial has been involved with ClubSav and practicing volleyball as much as possible.  She has gained a real interest in this sport and we look forward to seeing where this will lead.  There are still many other activities that are directly involved with her school that she is considering as well.  Time will tell.

Harrison is adjusting very well and quickly to Middle School.  He like his PE class and is patiently awaiting the arrival of his Trumpet so he can begin band.  He will also be involved in Rec football this year again with Effingham County.  I personally can't wait for footbal to begin.  I enjoy watching him play and enjoy the fact that he is exhausted after it is over.

Grayson is Grayson what can we say.  One day he Loves school the next day he is indifferent.  He is not excited about ever having to talk in front of the class.  This totally shocks me for the child that dances in the middle of a resteraunt.  He will also be playing football this year.  This will be his first year of tackle football and he is very excited.

All in all a good week and looking forward to what next week will bring!

DAY 1

Today was a success!  Everyone seemed to have a great day.  Everyone came home saying they enjoyed their days and were excited to go back tomorrow.  They were all starving and after burning off that little bit of remaining energy that they had leftover they were exhausted.

Back To School 2013

Very excited for the upcoming school year and all it holds for Abi, Harrison and Grayson.  Everyone is ready for a new school year even if we may be a bit nervous.

Abi starts 7th grade this year and is half way through Middle School.  Seems as though she was just leaving for Pre-school yesterday.  She has decided to give Volleyball a try this year and take some time off from dance.  Looking forward to seeing if this is something she will really enjoy!  Will try and keep you posted.

Harrison will beginning his journey through Middle School this year.  He is very excited about all of the opportunities that will be available to him.  He will be starting the year off in band playing the trumpet.  He is interested in trying out sports, just not sure which one yet. 

Grayson has been left all by his lonesome in Elementary school with no siblings for back up.  He is excited and nervous all at the same time.  He is currently reading me the first book in the Flat Stanley Series. He is hoping to increase his AR points exponentially this year.  We will be reading a lot!

 Hoping to continue the updates on a regular basis, but we all know how I am with keeping up with this.  :)

Today is Derby Day! So excited for all of the Scouts! Hoping they all have a wonderful time. Results later.

Elf Mischief

The kid's Elf on the Shelf got a little upset. They apparently kept saying he did not do anything and he heard them.  So the next night what does he do? He puts all the Ornament's on the Christmas Tree!  Silly Elf might want to take them out of the box next time.

Thankful

My boys did something very special for me this week.  Most may not understand without a before picture, which I do not have.  Also, I am not sure if I had one I would have the guts to post it.

They cleaned off the table and it has actually stayed that way for at least 3 days!!  So thankful for something so little that can make a difference. 

We spent four years in this house before I found the perfect table for me.  It has been here for a little more than a year and I like to see it from time to time.  Especially since it is such a beautiful piece.  It came from here.  Can't wait for the next piece.

Me:  Have I checked it?

Bubba:  No M'am.  But, your not going to be able to read my spelling.

Me:  Then you need to go ahead and re-do that before I check it.

Camp Fire Night

Camp Fire Night Cancelled Due to RAIN, RAIN and more RAIN!  -  Here's looking forward to the rain date!

I have been looking forward to this event for quite some time now.  I always enjoy being able to do things that all of the children enjoy.  It doesn't hurt if said activity is in my favorite price range, free to inexpensive!  The fact that we will be able to enjoy it with wonderful friends is just an extremely wonderful bonus.

So we start by some secretive planning on the part of the over-grown children adults.  A few weeks of patiently waiting and trying not to spill the beans.  We will all be going to the local Wildlife Center to for their Family Camp-Fire Night!  We will be heading to Oatland Island Wildlife Center Saturday evening for some fun and mischief.

Quiet Parenting

This will just be a very short rant on my part.  This makes day three or four, who's counting anymore, of having no voice.  A week where every living thing in the house under the age of ten wants to pitch a fit, talk back, not do what they are told, etc.  My response to all of these issues this week is amazingly quiet.  That is what happens when you have no voice.  I am insanely tired from the effort of finding other ways to communicate with these young ones.  Also, from the belly crunching quiet laughter I get from trying to get across to the oldest child what I need her to pass along as information to the individual on the other end of the phone.  Do you remember in elementary school playing the game where you told someone something in a whisper and it was passed down the line until the last person repeated what they heard?  Usually it was something totally different than what had first been said.  Yep, that has been every phone conversation I have had the past few days.  One day, when the voice returns maybe I should call some of the recipients of these conversations and explain.  Or, maybe not.  I may lose my voice again laughing over it.

Up Next....

It is that time of year.  Time to kick it into high gear.  Make sure that everyone is where they belong.  Practices, rehearsals, meetings, competitions but before any of that is this event.  The dance company that George is involved with has come up with a plan to start raising money to help these dancers off set some of the costs associated with these competitions.  I am so excited about this event.  This will be the first time they will publicly perform some of the pieces that will be going to competition.  I LOVE to watch these dancers.  They put a lot of effort into all that they do along with all of their instructors and it really shows.

If you have the time and can make it out we would be so happy to see you there.  You get a great show, dessert, the opportunity to bid on some silent auction items all while helping out a wonderful group of dancers.

Now off to put some ideas to paper.  The silent auction items will be acquired by the members of the dance teams and their parents.  I would be one of the parents.  So off to come up with a bright idea; unless someone cares to leave one here!

2010 Wrap Up

What an interesting year. So much happened and not much of it was reported here. As usual my intentions to keep everyone up to date fell way short. Here is to a better attempt in the new year.

Bubba has really taken to Boy Scouts and is having a wonderful time. His mom on the other hand is having a hard time keeping up with all that is going on. He is really excited about the camping trips that are coming up this year and the events that go on at the camp outs. Hopefully we can both get a grip on all that is coming up and have a wonderful year ahead.

Then there is the whole thing about one of these camping trips being in February! Wonder how Uncle Todd feels about freezing for the sake of one of his favorite nephews in the whole world? Hmmm!!!!

George is having the time of her life. What can I say. She is involved in enough that at times the rest of us think we are going to go insane. All the while she is standing by going I think I want to try ______! NO!!!!! Enough!!! We love her! She is really excited about dancing this year and is enjoying getting to know the girls at her new studio.

She is doing wonderful in school and is already looking forward to next year. I hope that she will keep this attitude up since the boys are not quite on the same page.

Tater is Tater.  What more can I say.  He is having a good time in Pre-K with Mrs. Bacon and Mrs. Betty.  Should probably ask them how they are handling the year!  He is a very active boy and is in to everything and making sure that everything goes his way.  To be the youngest!  He does tend to take after George a lot.  He wants to be involved in everything.  That is not always a good thing.  Looking forward to see what is in store for him this upcoming year.  He is greatly looking forward to his birthday in May.  Only problem he currently has is that he does not like the fact that he has to wait six months for his birthday and can not just move it.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and Great New Year!  Here we are looking forward to a whole new year of adventures.  Let the fun and games begin!

It is that time of year!

They are having a blast! Cindy Lou, The Grinch and Rudolph! This was all for the local Christmas parade a few weeks ago. The oldest and youngest were in the Parade for their dance company. I am still not sure how the middle child wormed his way into a costume and onto a float!

All of the children are looking forward to all that is going on. The parties, pageants, etc. They are also looking forward to a Christmas tree. Knowing there Grinch of a mother we will be lucky to have it up before Christmas Eve. Working on that one.

Now as for the rest of this weekend we will be participating in (at least two of us) in The Dancing Grinch That Stole Christmas and talking about going to get the Christmas tree that just never seems to get done.

It's been a while.

What can I say? Not much, very busy few weeks in this household. One day in the distant future things may settle down to something similar to a routine with some spare time in it. What a dream.

All the children have made it through their first two weeks and at least 1/3 of them is happy with the school year. The school has helped me out by giving all three of them teachers with names beginning with the letter B. Wonder how they will all react to the letters to school that begin with Dear Mrs. B. This will be fun keeping them all straight.

I would love to share pictures of everyone's first day of school. Especially since it was Tater's first day of Pre-school. However, when you do not realize the settings on the camera have been changed by said Pre-schooler and don't actually look at the images until you get home; you can't. I have 25 plus images that are wonderful shade of grainy black. I am sure I will appreciate them later. But such is life.

Lot's of other exciting things going on with all of the children that I hope to share soon. Time allowing. Completing a few projects for them as well that will be shared. Mostly for George at the moment since she is the one involved in so much right now. Trying to complete a costume for a production of The Wizard of Oz that she will perform in next weekend. So looking forward to this performance.

Back to school!

It is getting very close to that time of year again. We are two weeks away from the first day of school. There is still quite a bit to do before everyone is ready. But each little thing that gets accomplished just builds on the level of excitement for the three young ones in the household.

The oldest is getting a little nervous about this year. She finally got around to thinking about the extra work load that she would have this year along with her extracurricular activities. However, as the days pass she is becoming more and more confident that she can accomplish everything that will be put in front of her. She is also very excited to be able to see all of her friends again.

The middle child is excited to go back just for a change in scenery. Summer apparently is not all that fun if you do the same think over and over. He too is excited to see all of his friends, meet his new teacher and see what this year will hold.

Last but not least the youngest child in this family is just plain excited. Everything will be new to him this year. This will be his first time in a big school. The first time he will attend school with his siblings. I hope the school is prepared for what is headed their way.

All in all we are very excited about the upcoming school year. All of us for different reasons can not quite wait for the school year to begin.

I Bet You Can't!

I have been shamelessly eavesdropping on my oldest two children. Today's topic of conversation started with betting that one could not live with some electronic device or another for a week or more. This went back and forth for quite sometime.

When they finally got serious. The oldest one says "I bet you can't be nice to me for a whole week." The response I heard was "I probably can but let's start with just a day." So of course I have to throw my two cents in here. If one of them is going to do this I think they both should. (I give this a ten second life span) So back to negotiating they go. It is finally decided that they both have to go one full day without being mean to each other.

The girl has decided she will just lock herself in her room that should keep her out of trouble. The boy has decided he will win because he will nicely pester her to death. Last statement on the subject from the boy is "We need to start tomorrow. I can't do this today it is going to be to hard!"

Maybe by this weekend I can post about one peaceful day!
